SOS Children's Villages Florida
Seeing many orphaned and abandoned children left in the wake of World War II, a young medical student named Hermann Gmeiner recognized that their siblings were the only family they had left. To maintain these family ties and give these children a brighter future he founded the first SOS Children's Village in 1949 in Imst Austria.
Since then, SOS has grown to become the largest non-denominational children's care provider in the world. Today there are more than 450 Villages in 132 nations around the world. Together we are home to more than 60,000 children.
